Lakers Record Three Individual Titles to Win First NCAA DII Track & Field National Title Mar 12, 2011

The #1 ranked Grand Valley State women's track and field team scored 83 points to earn the programs first NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National title on Saturday (March 12) in Albuquerque, N.M. GVSU claimed 32 points over second place Lincoln (Mo.), while Adams State (37) finished third. Grand Valley State was led by Monica Kinney as she placed first in the mile and 5,000-meter run, while Lauren Buresh finished first in the shot put. GVSU will open the 2011 outdoor season on March 25.

Carnett of Concord Earns Indoor All-American Status Lance McDaniel Mar 12, 2011

   Shawnee Carnett, a sophomore from Concord University earned her 2nd All-American status and first Indoor All-American status tonight in Albuqueque, New Mexico. Carnett placed 3rd in the Women's 800 meter run of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.  Her time was a blazing 2:11.97!  Congratulations to Shawnee and her coach, Michael Cox.

GVSU Records 29 Points in Day One of Track and Field Championships Mar 11, 2011

The #1 ranked Grand Valley State women's track and field team scored 29 points after three events scored in day one of competition at the 2011 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday (March 11). The Lakers are sitting in first place with an 18 point lead heading into the final day of action tomorrow. GVSU's Liz Murphy claimed a third place finish in the weight throw, while junior Jocelyn Kuksa also placed third in the pole vault. The Lakers will resume competition on Saturday (March 12) in the final day of action at 3:45 p.m. ET in Albuquerque, N.M.
