If you take a look at the rankings from returnings athletes from last year, you just might find yourself starting down a new favorite.
We're kind of used to thinking of Los Alamos as the team to beat, but--at least at this point in the year--Aztec looks to have the makings of a very good team with a whole spectrum of interesting possibilities.
Other teams appear to be quite a way back, including Albuquerque Academy, which looks like a complete non-factor from last year's rankings. But the just-completed cross country season shows a side of Albuquerque Academy girls track and field we may need to get more accustomed to seeing.
In any case, here are the rankings of returning athletes (top eight, each individual event) scored according to a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 model:
