Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.
This Week's Nominees:
Grace Erinle, ABQ Academy (New Mexico): Swept three events at the APS Metro Championships, posting 18-10 in the long jump, 12.23 in the 100 meters, and 36-9.5 in the triple jump. Won all three events against strong fields, including a victory over state-ranked Claire DeFoy in the 100. The top-ranked junior in New Mexico in both the long jump and triple jump, plus second among juniors in the 100.
Claire DeFoy, Hope Christian High School (New Mexico): Clocked 57.68 to win the 400 meters at the Larry Baca Memorial Invitational. Also competed at the APS Metro Championships, running 26.27 for fourth in the 200 meters and 12.88 in the 100 meters.
Atria Wells, Carlsbad High School (New Mexico): Threw 126-6 to win the discus at the Ross Black Relays, topping a 17-athlete field.
Rebecca Neal, Highland High School (New Mexico): Won the high jump at the APS Metro Championships with a clearance of 5-4. Also captured the javelin with a throw of 111-10 and placed third in the 100m hurdles in 15.77.
Ryli Heckman, Bloomfield High School (New Mexico): Won the 100m hurdles at the Bloomfield Invitational in 14.86, the top time by a sophomore in New Mexico this season.
