Latricia Jones, a graduate of Spartanburg High finished first in the shot
put and discus at the Golden South Classic Saturday in Orlando, Fla. Jones
threw distances of 38-00.50 and 124-08 in the shot and discus,
respectively. In the shot put Jones\' closest competitor threw 32-02.25.
Jones threw three feet more than second place discus finisher Bryn Renda.
Curt McGill, also a graduate of Spartanburg High finished first in the shot put with a best throw of 50-00. McGill also finished first in the high jump, clearing 5-10.
Sarah Young, competing for the Quick Striders finished second in the women\'s triple jump with a best leap of 35-10.
Westside graduate Tempest Vance finished third overall in the girls 400 hurdles in 1:04.72.
Florida Gator bound Dennis Martin finisehd first in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles in 14.15. Martin also finished first in the preliminaries in 14.20.
Ben Lippen rising senior Graham Tribble finished second in the 3,000-meter event in 8:39.86 with Matt Daniels of Arlington, TX crossing the line first in 8:39.57.
