New Mexico high school track and field athletes posted personal records across multiple events during the week of March 30.
Zethlin Sherwood (Logan) threw 151-3 in the discus at the Buffalo Relays on April 2, improving from his previous best of 95-3. The mark places him 12th in the state and fifth among seniors, and he finished fifth of 24 competitors. Sherwood also set personal records in the shot put (35-4, up from 32-5) and 100 meters (13.02, down from 14.20) at the same meet.
Kelsie Wieland (Texico) cleared 5-3 in the high jump at the Buffalo Relays on April 2, bettering her previous personal record of 4-8 from March 2026. The mark is a school record and ranks sixth in the state and first among sophomores, and she won the event with seven competitors. Wieland also ran a personal best 14.72 in the 100 meters, improving from 14.83.
Simone Pamphile (Alamogordo) ran 12.55 in the 100 meters at the Gene Wells Relays on April 2, improving from her previous best of 12.95 set in March 2026. The time ranks 27th in the state and fourth among freshmen, and she placed second of 54 competitors.
Onsurez Tristan (Loving) jumped 21-7 in the long jump at the Gas Capital Relays on April 2, improving from his previous personal record of 19-8 from April 2024. The mark is a school record and ranks 23rd in the state, and he won the event with 10 competitors.
Aron Torres (Fort Sumner) threw 169-5 in the discus at the Buffalo Relays on April 2, improving from his previous best of 150-4 from March 2026. The mark is a school record and ranks first in the state and first among juniors, and he won the event with 24 competitors. Torres also set a personal record in the shot put with a throw of 46-11, improving from 45-3.5.
Zaybri Aviles (Lovington) ran 12.88 in the 100 meters at the Gene Wells Relays on April 2, improving from her previous personal record of 13.27. The time ranks 55th in the state and sixth among freshmen, and she finished fourth of 54 competitors.
Miley Bolton (Hobbs) cleared 5-2 in the high jump at the Gene Wells Relays on April 2, improving from her previous best of 5-0. The mark ranks eighth in the state and third among seniors, and she placed third of 20 competitors. Bolton also ran a personal best 28.18 in the 200 meters, improving from 28.98.
