Albuquerque, New Mexico- Eldorado runner Gianna Rahmer has won the 2025-25 New Mexico Cross Country Player of the Year, and it was announced via a press release Jan. 21 from Gatorade. Rahmer has now won GPOY honors in two consecutive years for cross country.
"I feel so honored and proud to be given the award! I praise the Lord for giving me so many opportunities," Rahmer said.
This past season, Rahmer was the Metro champion, District champion, individual state champion, and helped the Eldorado team win back-to-back cross country state championships. The Eldorado speedster also set a new PR at the Nike Cross Nationals Southwest Regional in which she ran 16:54.87.
"I am so, so lucky to get to run in the state of New Mexico against amazing girls. I am so grateful for my teammates and family who pushed and inspired me this season!" Rahmer said.
Next up is the male GPOY, and according to the Gatorade Player of the Year website, that honor will be announced Feb. 13.
