Gianna Rahmer: A Season of Total Control
This season, Gianna Rahmer delivered the kind of season that cements a high-school distance runner's place among the nation's elite. Already a familiar name in New Mexico distance running, Rahmer's 2025 campaign showcased not only dominance within the state but a sharpening edge that increasingly holds up on the regional and national stages.
Rahmer opened the 2025 cross-country season in commanding fashion, taking the Macen Holderman Cleveland Invite in 17:37.3 for the 5K distance. She swept meet after meet, including the APS Metro Championships (17:48.0), Academy Extravaganza (17:04.1), and District 2 Championships (18:08.0).
The highlight came at the NMAA 5A State Championships, where Rahmer stormed to a 17:02.20 victory-a state-title performance that marked her fastest race of the year and one of her strongest career efforts.
Her lone non-win of the season came at the highly competitive Desert Twilight Invitational, where she finished 2nd in 17:05.1, reinforcing her status as a regional force.
