NMAA 5A: GIRLS 5K RUN - STATE FINALS

Eldorado's Rahmer Blazes to 5A Crown as Eagles Capture Team Title

Sophomore Gianna Rahmer of Eldorado High School delivered one of the most dominant performances of the state meet, storming to the 5A Girls Cross-Country individual title in a blistering 17:02.2, leading the Lady Eagles to the team championship with 50 points.

Rahmer separated from the field early, powering through the cool morning air to win by more than a minute and a half over Rio Rancho's Mariah Galbraith (18:37.9). Eldorado's depth sealed the deal behind Sylvie Hadley (5th, 19:35.9), freshman Olivia Rule (9th, 19:51.7), Emily Rosaaen (12th, 19:54.4) and Ella Moss (23rd, 20:35.2).

Sue Cleveland High School made a valiant run with 56 points, just six back. The Storm placed five runners in the top 17, led by Naomi St. Clair (6th, 19:36.5), Alina Trujillo-Sando (7th, 19:41.8) and Sophia Yepa (10th, 19:52.4). Cleveland's 32-second 1-to-5 split was the tightest in the field, showcasing the team's trademark pack running. Rio Rancho took third with 105 points, highlighted by Galbraith's runner-up finish and steady support from Valentina Martinez (14th) and Caitlynn Parsons (24th). La Cueva (108 pts) finished a close fourth behind Ruby Buckner Polk (4th, 19:23.9), while Clovis rounded out the top five at 129 points, paced by Lillian Strebeck (15th, 20:01.3).

With three scorers returning next fall, Eldorado HS looks poised to extend its reign in 2026 - but Sue Cleveland and Rio Rancho won't make it easy.
