Santa Fe Prep Dominates to Capture 3A Girls Cross Country Title
The Santa Fe Prep girls delivered a commanding performance at the 3A Girls 5000 Meter Run Finals, capturing the team championship with a low score of 29 points behind a 1-2 finish from seniors Sophie Bair and Pippa Barrett.
Bair crossed the finish line in 18:56.7, the only runner from the 3A race to break 19 minutes on the course. Barrett followed close behind at 19:25.4, while freshman Gracie Mena (20:30.0) and senior Ingrid Ehrmantraut (20:47.1) added critical top-10 finishes. Sophomore Eri Steeves sealed the victory with a 21:47.0 fifth-place team mark. Santa Fe Prep's pack running produced a tight 2:50 1-5 split and an impressive 20:17 team average, distancing them from runner-up Cottonwood Classical Prep (96 points) and East Mountain High School (98 points).
Cottonwood Classical was led by Ariana Chavez (20:37.3) and Clara Hasselgren (21:42.9), while East Mountain showcased remarkable depth, placing all five scorers within one minute of each other, led by Ashley Bustillos (21:35.5). Navajo Prep also scored 98 points, finishing just outside the podium on the tiebreaker, highlighted by senior Lillian Petago's 14th-place overall showing in 21:35.6.
St. Michael's standout Chloe Grieco ran a gritty race to finish fourth overall in 20:12.9, leading the Lady Horsemen to fifth as a team with 146 points.
