New Mexico: meet Brooke Newcomer!
Newcomer placed fifth in her debut high school race at the Clovis Invite running 22:30.25. This time is currently the fastest in the freshmen class by over two minutes as well as No. 7 in 6A.
Looking back to the 2022 XC season, Newcomer competed at the NM 5A District 4 Championship as an eighth-grader, placing fourth with a time of 22:07.19. She went on to finish 59th at the 2022 New Mexico State Cross Country Championships.

Sara Mei Tache - Shiprock - Right behind Newcomer in the freshmen rankings is Sara Mei Tache. She clocked 24:37.60 at the Peaks Invite. In her 2022 XC season as an 8th grader, she ran 21:28.11.
