#15 Alamogordo Tigers

Alamogordo finds themselves hoping to stay in the mix in 2022, as they land #15 on our New Mexico Girls Cross Country Countdown. They return the individual 5A state champion, Ellary Battle with a stellar personal best of 18:20. It's going to take more than Battle to ensure the Tigers can once again land a top-five finish, as they return five from the state team including Antonia Wilder (23rd in 2021), Saung Soe (51st in 2021), Kylin Starkovich (82nd in 2021), and Alice Carr (115th in 2021). For a program like Alamogordo that has been trending upward in recent years, they will see tough competition from the rest of class 5A. They look strong at the moment of the possibility of once again winning district 3-5A as Organ Mountain will seek to challenge. Looking closer toward the state meet, Alamogordo will need to rely on some newcomers to get them over the ever-strengthening 5A that will see a plethora of returning all-state performers among rising stars making their presence known. Expect Alamogordo to once again challenge for a podium spot this November as they rebuild another solid varsity squad.
