#16 Farmington Scorpions

Similar to the boys' #16 ranked team, Farmington girls come into this season with plenty of upward momentum. Not only are the scorpions projected to return all of their state runners from last season but they return perhaps the youngest team in the state of New Mexico. Three freshmen coming into 2022 with varsity experience while juniors Madison Germaine (34th in 2021) and Adrianna Lake (63rd in 2021) add several years of experience competing at the state meet. Rounding out the rest of the projected returners include Logan Webb (50th in 2021), Marley Deswood (53rd in 2021), Jadyn Jones (78th in 2021), Maressa Miller-Castillo (56th in 2021), and Jazlyn Zunie (57th in 2021). The sky is the limit for a team returning this much production among 5A ranks. Expectations for this team to once again place among the top ten teams are quite high and it would not be out of the realm of possibility to see them land among the top five if they have seen huge progression this off-season. Of course, they reside in a difficult district like 2-5A which any given year will see Eldorado and La Cueva challenging for a district title. They will also run into a challenge with cross-town rivals, Piedra Vista return a solid group as well to ensure there is no cakewalk to success in 2022.
