#18 Robertson Cardinals

Expected to take a huge leap forward this season is the #18 Robertson Cardinals. Coming off a 7th place finish in 2021 they were a very young team taking on some great squads in that 3A race. Another year of growth for Robertson may see them making another step towards landing on the podium even more challenging for a state title. Lovely Allemand returns as the top runner coming off a 13th place finish last season and boasting a personal best of 21:50. Also returning is the most experience on the team, Liana Fernandez who has a personal best of 20:03 and has placed as high as 8th back in 2018. Other returning runners from last season's state team include Alexis Pacheco (30th in 2021), Kayla Lopez (88th in 2021), and Lauren Lopez (65th in 2021). They will rely on newcomers to accumulate some huge points with Taylor Quintana who had the best time last season of 21:15 although she did not compete at the state meet. They do face an upward battle with Cottonwood Classical having been the dominant force of class 3A in recent years as well as a Santa Fe Indian squad that is just as competitive. Expect Robertson to give their all in hopes of attaining their second state title in program history.
