New Mexico Girls Cross Country Countdown: #19 Centennial

New Mexico Cross Country Countdown Series

The New Mexico Cross Country Countdown breaks down the top 25 New Mexico boys and girls teams returning this fall. These rankings will include projected top runners and weigh how each team may do in their respective districts and state competitions. Changes to class alignments and adaptions to the state championship format have been taken into consideration. These rankings are based on the past season of performances. All top returning runners are only projections and may include athletes no longer on the team due to transfer or out-of-state relocation.

#19 Centennial Hawks

Centennial Hawks have plenty of room to improve coming off a 14th place finish in the 2021 5A State Race. For a program that has seen its track and field program making a name for itself, so too can the cross country program that has found a way to consistently make state qualifying marks through district 3-5A that consists of a talented Alamogordo squad among plenty of cross-town rivals in Las Cruces. Aaliyah Schartzer leads the way for the Hawks as a 65th place finisher from the last state meet and boasting a personal best of 20:57. Other returners from that team include Jada Dean (96th in 2021), Adrianna Paz (94th in 2021), Deianira Hoyle (88th in 2021), and Danika Rodriguez (92nd in 2021). Centennial returns a good amount of production from last year's team which plays well in terms of experience for this season.
