Alamogordo returns to our New Mexico Boys Cross Country Countdown in a similar spot as they land the #12 spot this season. The Tigers are coming off the 8th place finish in 2021 in which graduated All-State runner Celso Garcia ran to a 6th place finish. Now they will look to Junior Omar Enriquez who returns as the top finisher for the Tigers with a personal best of 16:43 and a 33rd place finish in the 5A state race. Other returners from the state team include Angel Avila (73rd in 2021), Thomas Bond (66th in 2021), and Jack Hallbeck (94th in 2021). A solid four-core to build around as they are all could potentially be sub 18:00 minute runners this fall. Alamogordo will rely on newcomers to varsity seven like Isaiah Dalmas and Jaxon Spencer who if they can both be a potential scoring fifth member to get the Tigers over the hump. They will see strong competition from district 3--5A schools Organ Mountain, and Centennial as all three have a good chance at claiming the district title. Looking toward the 5A state championships they will be hoping to place several spots higher than last season, possibly taking a shot toward landing on the podium with the help of experienced upperclassmen.
