#18 Laguna Acoma Hawks

The prestigious Laguna Acoma lands the #18 spot on our New Mexico Boys Cross Country Countdown. Laguna Acoma just missed out on the podium in 2021 as they came one point shy of Penasco. They return more runners from that state team than most schools around New Mexico including their senior Aiden Kazhe-Chino who finished 14th in 2021. Also back includes Tagoya Pedro (15th in 2021), Lucas Williams (27th in 2021), Sean-Paul Holtry (29th in 2021), Jayden Paquin (50th in 2021), and Sheldon Cheromiah (58th in 2021).  The Hawks are no strangers to hoisting state championship trophies and while they still may have some room to grow before being a definitive #1 in class A/2A they sure have the makings of a podium team this fall. If they can get a trio of runners to go sub 18:00 minutes this season they will be in the mix to challenge any of the smaller schools in the state. With a team like the Hawks, you know they are always a challenge during the state meet and one of their runners has the potential to win the individual state title any given year.
