#24 St. Pius X Sartans
If this all seems familiar it should. St. Pius finds itself once again in the #24 spot, the exact same spot they were in heading into the 2021 season. You can check out that ranking from 2021 to see just how well they have progressed since then. Brian Kalb and Samuel Buershen return, now seniors as the leading boys for this St. Pius team that has still been looking for their breakout success. They are poised as one of the most veteran squads in the state as they have four seniors that return from the 2021 state team including Jeffrey Peterson (75th in 2021) and Andrew Garcia (95th in 2021). In years past the Sartans have proven to be a tightly packed group when it comes to their 1st and 5th runner splits that ensure they come through the finish line almost single file one after another. If they can find a way to emerge from those 90th place finishes into somewhere in the 40th to 50th place range they can emerge as a podium team this season. They look strong in defending a District 5-4A title, as for taking on the rest of 4A powerhouses they will be in for an upward battle as the top of classification return strong numbers as well.
