Richard Harper Invitational was the home to a majority of the key performances from this past weekend despite strong wind gusts plaguing day one of the competition. Friday started off with Steven West and Leah Futey claiming the 3200m races in season-best times on New Mexico soil. In the boys' high jump it was Hope Christian's James Jenkins and defending 5A state champion Gabriel Ball dueling it out in less than ideal jumping weather. They would both stall out at a high of 6-6" with Jenkins getting the top points. In the girls' triple jump, it would be Albuquerque Academy's Gigi Galles getting the win with a new meet record of 37-1 on her home field. In the boys' pole vault, Kyle Hatler set a new meet record along with a new state best mark with his vault of 15-1.
