Expect plenty of green and yellow contending in those 4A girls' distance finals while the 5A lead pack has emerged as we are officially into June. Yes, we know the Hilltoppers are good but are we prepared for a potential 4x800m with this group of gals at the state championships?! 5A girls continue to trade off state leads and lower marks on a weekly basis as we know that Ellary Battle, Leah Futey, Laurynn Sisneros and Tessa Holderman are those names we can expect to be echoed on the University of New Mexico speakers later this month. Hailey Mcdowell, Norissa Valdez, and Emma Patton all emerge among the top 10 in the 800m from their performances at Larry Baca Memorial Invitational while Alyx Mastor broke away from the field at Mark Shumate to claim victory at Mark Shumate Invitational with a #4 time of 11:53.21. Check out all of the New Mexico girls' distance rankings as of June 9 on the next pages.
