The last weekend of May brought about new state leads across the numerous events and a sign that New Mexico athletes are starting to hit their strides. Sima Lucero became the first sub 60 seconds 400m sprinter this season as Tyler Jenson and Gabriel Ball also set new state leads in their respective events at APS Quad #15. Clovis Christian's Lola  De Groot and Sofia De Groot have taken the top spot in the long jump and triple jump from their performances at Longhorn Relays. Broden Cahoon became the first to go sub 50 in the 400m in 2021 at Bill Slade Invite as Clovis Invitational saw Jerrick Maldonado hit 1:55 while Traise Cain now holds the top 110m and 300m hurdles marks.
