How do the State Championships look if APS does not Compete

The 5A State Championship will take a huge toll without Albuquerque Public Schools as they account for nearly half of the entire teams among the classification. Ten of the twenty-eight teams would be out of state contention. In This likely scenario, we would probably see two schools making a temporary transition to District 4 to even out the competition.

4A would see Del Norte, Highland, and Valley out for schools from Albuquerque. Not as much shifting around would need to take place as only two of the six districts would be slightly affected. Could possibly temporarily dissolve District 6 and spread Albuquerque Academy, Belen, and Hope Christian throughout the remaining districts. Should this happen, good luck to the district taking in the Chargers for a season.

3A will be without powerhouse Navajo Prep, Santa Fe Indian, Santa Fe Prep, Wingate, Robertson, and West Las Vegas. This would take away teams from the state runner-ups through the fifth place from 2019. Again the likely scenario would be dissolving District 2 and placing Raton and St.Michaels elsewhere for the time being.

1A/2A would see the majority of the remaining opt-out schools as they take precautions to prevent spread in their region of the state.  We would have to hold off on the exact list of teams from this classification not competing but even with opt-outs, this may not affect the alignment of the four monster-sized districts.
