NMAA Update: Cross Country season pushed back yet again

The New Mexico Activities Association has pushed back the start date for cross country this fall from its September 14th start date. The new start date for New Mexico cross country will be October 5th to November 28th with the New Mexico State Cross Country Championships taking place on December 4-5.

This move comes as New Mexico public schools will halt in-person learning until after Labor Day weekend. This will cause athletic directors, coaches, and meet directors to scramble yet again to find meets that will align appropriately to there schedules while also finding suitable competition among nearby schools.

Also not yet confirmed is which schools will be hosting meets for the upcoming season and what limitations will be set on the competition size, spectator size, and requirements as far as distancing and mask protocol.
