The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic
achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Glenn as New Mexico's best
high school boys track & field athlete. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Boys Track & Field Athlete
of the Year award to be announced in July, Glenn joins an elite alumni association of state award-winners in 12
sports, including Lolo Jones (1997-98, Roosevelt High School, Iowa), Allyson Felix (2002-03, Los Angeles Baptist High
School, Calif.), Robert Griffin III (2006-07, Copperas Cove High School, Texas), Grant Fisher (2013-14 & 2014-15,
Grand Blanc High School, Mich.) and Candace Hill (2014-15, Rockdale County High School, Ga.). - Gatorade Player of Year Press Release
Teagun Glenn, coming fresh off a 2nd place finish at the 2020 Great Southwest Classic Indoor Invitational was selected as the 2019-2020 New Mexico Boy's Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Glenn has made the podium at the New Mexico state meet seven times in three events throughout his entire career. A multi-sport athlete that has competed in football, wrestling and track and field while staying active in his community. Glenn has volunteered with the Road Runner Food Bank and Watermelon Mountain Ranch Animal Shelter among other charitable organizations.
Glenn has maintained a weighted GPA of 3.79 in the classroom. He began Basic Cadet Training on June 24 and will
compete in track and field at the United States Air Force Academy.
Glenn joins recent Gatorade New Mexico Boys Track & Field Athletes of the Year Jonah Vigil (2018-19, Taos High
School), Jericho Cleveland (2017-18, Volcano Vista High School), Jackson Morris (2016-17 & 2014-15, Albuquerque
Academy), Alejandro Goldston (2015-16, Volcano Vista High School) and Mike Budick (2013-14, Volcano Vista High
School) among the state's list of former award winners.
