Eldorado and Cleveland repeat for 5A titles

Eldorado repeats as Volcano Vista runs to 2nd place

Eldorado eagles have been consistent all season long and finished the season with another 5A girls Championship to end 2019. The likely competition of Sue Cleveland was replaced with fending off Volcano Vista when Lila Nezar, Isabella Schrader and Aryanna Gomez remained in the top 5 through the first mile. Jasmine Turtle-Morales, Laurynn Sisneros and company proved their prestige by slowly picking off runners as the race progressed into the second mile. Individually, through all the battles between Turtle-Morales and Sue Cleveland's Leah Futey, Futey would be the new individual champion in 5A as Turtle-Morales finished runner-up while Albuquerque High's Emily Schoellkopf paced herself to 3rd place.
