We loaded up the van at 9:00 am and headed to the New Orleans airport.  The team and
coaches boarded the plane for Dallas around 11:00 am.  Our flight was totally full.
Most of the girls slept or studied and Rachel rocked out to her iPod.  In Dallas we
had about an hour layover which gave us enough time to grab lunch.  From Dallas we
flew to El Paso, picked up our rental car and headed to the Holiday Inn.  We had
about 2 hours to chill before we headed to dinner.  Around 5:30 we drove to the
Oliver Garden to indulge in some Italian cuisine.  We headed back to the hotel and
later had a team meeting and went to a small Hispanic Food Mart to pick up some food
for the next day.

The team met for our morning warm up at the hotel.  Everyone ate breakfast and
packed their running essentials- spikes, running number, uniform, etc.  Then we
loaded the van and headed to the course.  The course for the CUSA meet was on a gulf
course located just across the New Mexico border.  The temperature was around 84
degrees with clear skies.  We watched the beginning of the men's race and then
warmed up, went through drills, and stretched.  About ten minutes before our race,
we headed to the line.  The women's race started at 11:30 am.  In addition to the
higher altitude, the course was pretty rough; a great majority of the course was
sand.  Laurie Dalrymple was the top finisher for Tulane, placing 15th overall and
landing a spot on the All-Conference USA team.

After the race we cooled down and headed over to the awards ceremony and grabbed
some bag lunches that had been prepared for all of the athletes.  We loaded the van
and headed back to the hotel to shower and pack our bags.  Our flight to Dallas was
at 2:55pm. In Dallas, there was a little bit of a layover, which gave us time to eat
some dinner.  We flew back to New Orleans and arrived back to campus around 9:30 pm.
