The postseason is in full swing in New Mexico. The fields are set after last weekend's District Meets for Class 1A-3A and the races are about to begin. But before the first gun is fired or the first mark measured, let's take a quick look at how things could potentially play out this weekend at University Stadium.

Girls 3A

Based on the Friday Heat Sheets, the Girls 3A could potentially be a four way battle between the Tucumcari Rattlers, the Loving Falcons, the Tularosa Wildcats and the Clayton Yellow Jackets.

Behind the top seeded 4x100m relay and Abigaile Jimenez in the Shot Put and Discus, the Rattlers have 10 entrants seeking the top podium placing.

With Briana Rodriguez in the 400m, and Angelica Rios in the Triple Jump, the Loving Falcons are true podium contenders. The Falcons have 10 entrants to man their top seeds in the 4x200m, Medley, and 4x400m relays to strengthen their title hopes.

Raeanna Hobson's top seed in the Javelin will lead her 11 other Wildcat teammates for Tularosa.

With Adriana Ramirez leading the way in the High Jump, the Clayton Yellow Jackets round out the podium favorites. The Yellow Jackets have 11 entrants to bolster their hopes.

Other teams who could potentially work themselves on the podium are Eunice, Lordsburg, and Santa Fe Prep.

Boys 3A

Regarding the 3A Boys team battle, three teams, all with standouts, look to be the favorites going into the weekend.

Despite only having eight state entrants, the Clayton Yellow Jackets have the makings of a podium contender. Led by sprinting ace Koy Geary in the 100m and 200m, and Colby Bagwell in the 110m and 300m Hurdles, and Pole Vault, the Yello Jackets also have the top seeds in the 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m. Clayton's fortunes will rest with their two top seeds.

The Santa Rosa Lions bring both depth and quality. Led by Dante Torello in the Triple and Long Jump, James Moncayo in the Shot Put, and Robert Zamora, Jr. in the Javelin, the Lions bring 14 entrants to the championships.

Rounding out the contending trio are the Dexter Demons. Bring 14 state entrants, the Demons will be led by Zachary Lopez in the 400m.
