
With the 2015 New Mexico high school track and field season in full swing, the results after Saturday's statewide set of meets placed four athletes from the Onate girls team at the top of the overall rankings, with the Lady Knights claiming the number one seed in five of the fifteen individual girls events.

For Onate senior Yemisi Oroyinyin (pictured above), three consecutive wins in both the shot (39-7) and discus (121-0) has kept her top spot solid with state best throws in her prospective events. Oroyinyin looks to keep improving her chances for a 6A state title this year but will be contending in the shot put with second ranked Carly Kantrowitz of Carlsbad, who is making her climb up the ladder with a recent throw of 38-4.5. In the discus, Oroyinyin is in position to make a shift to higher ground on the State podium, hoping to improve on last year's fifth place medal and her 2014 best mark of 125-1.
