Bloomfield Cross Country Invitational

The Gallup Bengals ruled the day in Bloomfield. Beginnig with Wynona Martin's 20:12 individual victory helping her teammates to 20 team points and the team victory, and capped off with teammates James Woody and Miguel Ramirez going 1-2 while clocking 17:13 leading the Bengals to a 29-48 victory or the Aztec Tigers.

Burges-Jefferson Cross Country Invitational

 

Only a few New Mexico teams made the trip south, and for those that did, they didn’t receive a warm welcome.

The Santa Teresa trio of Regina Marquez, Britani Gonzalez and Joanna Miranda went 1-4-11 helping their fellow Lady Desert Warriors to a 6th place team finish, which was also the highest placing for all New Mexico teams. Gadsden’s Monika Chavez Valtierra had a solid 6th place showing in 19:42.

In the boy’s race, Gadsden’s Juan Pantoja was the highest finishing New Mexican placing 6th in 16:15. The Santa Teresa boys were the highest finishing New Mexico boys team placing 12th.

Los Lunas David Allen XC Invitational

 

The Carisma Lovato-led Valencia Lady Jaguars made it back-to-back team victories taking the team over the Robertson Cardinals. Lovato led the way for the Jaguars with a 19:03 first place finish.

Since finishing as the individual runner-up at the UNM Lobo Invite, Belen’s Aaron Valenzuela has bee on an absolute tear. Notching individual victories at the Belen Adron Gardner, Las Cruces Public School then Valencia XC Invites, Valenzuela made a clean sweep of Valencia County with his 16:36 first place finish at the Los Lunas David Allen Invitational.

Northern New Mexico XC Championships

 

The Taos Tigers left their paw prints all over the Santa Fe Municipal Recreation Complex.

Despite Desert Academy’s Taylor Bacon 18:41 first place finish, the Lady Tigers took three of the Top 5 places, led by Hannah Gunther’s individual runner-up finish. The Lady Tigers outdistanced St. Michael’s, Pojoaque and Santa Fe Indian 47-82-83-87.

In the boy’s race, Roy Madrid, Donevan Gravelle and JC Stantistevan went 1-2-3 helping their teammates make it two years in a row with a 31-57 team victory over the St. Michael’s Horsemen.

Zuni Patason Amesoli Invitational

 

The Shiprock Lady Chieftains have now made it four team titles in a row, outpacing the 11 team field with 42 points. With her fourth place finish, Lacey Howe continues to lead the Lady Chieftains scoring quintet.

The host Zuni Thunderbirds had just enough eke out a one point victory over the Laguna-Acoma Hawks 73-74. Tre Riley and Vincent Yunkestine paced the Thunderbirds with 6th and 8th place finishes, but the visiting Hawks were able to fit their entire scoring five in between Zuni’s second and fourth runners in the span of 43 seconds. The home meet victory brings Zuni’s win streak to 6-0. Bravo.
