With the 1A-2A state meet and 3A-4A-5A district qualifying action going on last weekend, there is plenty to discuss this time around:

New Mexico 1A-2A State Track and Field Championships

Cimarron took the 1A boys state title, but it was a Cliff hanger. Fort Sumner did their usual routine in winning the 1A girls title, but Jemez Valley made it a lot closer this year than it's been in a while. 2A girls saw the top four teams separated by only 1.5 points, with Estancia winning in what came down to a kind of war of attrition. 2A boys went two ways--with Clayton and Santa Rosa sharing honors.

Caley Barnard did her best to keep Melorse in the hunt, including an 11-4 pole vault, but there was no matching the overall team depth of Fort Sumner and Jemez Valley. Taea Hill similarly did all she could to keep Ramah in the 2A girls title hunt, and her heroics...
