2013 Meet Titles: 4A State, District 5 - 4A, Los Alamos, Rio Rancho Jamboree, Cibola, Manzano
Before I send you any further down the path of the All-New Mexico selections, some explanation about the method of selection is in order. Since State is the biggest meet of the season, and the meet that everyone trains for, state results weighed most heavily in the selections below. State, however, is not the only meet of the season. And, for a multitude of reasons, an athlete's state meet may not be the most representative meet of his season. So, where calls were close, I looked at the entire body of the season's work (or at least as much of it as I have access to), including especially meet titles. Selecting a girls All-New Mexico team was much more difficult than selecting a boys team--as the longer list of honorable mentions might suggest. There were a handful of clear choices followed by a very difficult, and probably somewhat arbitrary, break at seven runners. Following the runner of the year selection, there is no rank ordering intended or implied in the list below. There are a lot of different ways you could look at this thing. After viewing things in at least several of those different ways, we arrive at the following to fill out the 2013 All-New Mexico team:
