Meet photography is a combination of roughly equal parts positioning, anticipation, and dumb luck. It also helps to make sure that your worst photos are never seen by anyone but yourself. That helps to keep your photographic reputation intact.
I spent an absolutely delightful four hours at Saturday morning's Metro Championships meet. There is no such thing as a bad day at a cross country meet, but this day was better than most. And it was sheer pleasure to simply watch a meet with none of the concerns of coaching at hand. You see so much more that way.
