Even with arguably their best runner on the shelf with an injury last November, the Volcano Vista girls turned in their best-ever finish with a fourth-place at the state meet. And, if you're into trending patterns, Volcano Vista went 8th in 2010, 6th in 2011, and 4th in 2012. Second in 2013? We'll see.

Volcano Vista is, of course, the new kid on the block among APS high schools. It's west-side location overlooks much of the city, and that just might be the perspective they're taking into cross country this fall, too.

The sign of a good program is one that makes consistent progress, and VV has shown all of that. They are now within striking range, it's probably only a matter of time until they reach the top.

So, let's take a closer look at the team and see what they're bringing to the table this fall.
