Cimarron Threatens to Repeat: 1A Boys 2014

Cimarron's uniforms have a way of getting your attention. You may want to get used to that, because they probably aren't going away.

Graduation left the ranks of Rams largely unscathed, and so the team that won this year looks like an early favorite for next year. And they figure to be hard at it during cross country season, getting a leg up on several of the contenders as early as the fall. Hurdles and distance once again figure to be the areas of specialty for Cimarron. Returning runners like Jacob Subratie, Henry Sime, Reuben Mulkey, and Seth Robertson make this team look like a formidable entry.

About as far away from Cimarron as you can get is Cliff High School. Cliff is a sort of paradise for jumpers (somehow, that doesn't quite sound right, but we'll move on nevertheless)--or so it would seem from their list of contending athletes. In any case, Cordell Davis and company are out to make things difficult for repeat-minded Cimarron.

Mountainair is another traditionally-strong 1A program that figures to be back in the mix of things next spring. With Victor Zamora returing in the hurdles and  Kenyon Aguilar in the throws for the Mustangs, Mountainair has a lot to look forward to next year.
