Socorro, Santa Teresa Hosting Meets This Weekend

The meet action slated for this weekend in New Mexico is double what it was last weekend.

In Socorro on Friday, the Zimmerly Relays roll out their second annual edition. If the track action isn't enough for you, you can always check out the Sandhill Crane action at the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge while you're in the area. But, the track action should be pretty good even without a delicious side of birdwatching. I may not have the list of participating teams spot-on correct, but look for Hatch Valley, Hot Springs, Ruidoso, School of Dreams, and, of course, Socorro to be there.

Santa Teresa hosts on Saturday and figures to draw a few teams from Texas plus Alamogordo, Las Cruces, Mayfield, Deming, Centennial, and Chaparral. For many of these teams, this will already be their second weekend of meet action.

A few schools from southeastern New Mexico figure to be making a run for Texas to participate in meets across the state line, and a meet at Monument Valley, Arizona, figures to pick up a handful of schools from San Juan County.

I promise to do my best to pick up results from each of these meets. If you're a meet director and reading this, please take this as a cordial request to expedite things and send the meet results along to the e-mail address in the lower left corner of this page as they become available.

If you're handy with a camera and get a good shot or two from either of this weekend's meets, please take this as an invitation to send those photos along to me. Any photos used will be credited to the sender.
