Although track and field is still very much in the news cycle, cross country is starting to insist on its share now, as well.
The CHSCA Multi-Sport Clinic is coming up on July 28 and 29. lt promises to be a great time of learning and renewing acquaintances. This year's clinic speakers and topics include:
- David McMillan (Durango) - Investing in Character to Develop Talent
- Jonathan Dalby (Mountain Vista) - Coaching Freshmen
- Jamie Kirkpatrick (Edina, MN) - Coaching in a Championship Season and Threshold Training
- Dr. Jeff Messer (formerly Desert Vista, AZ) - High School XC Training and Philosophy: A Conjugated Periodized Approach and Endurance Training: Current Science and Application to Training Program Design

- Nike Cross Regionals - Southwest at Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, AZ, on November 18.
- Foot Locker Midwest at UW-Parkside in Kenosha, WI, on November 25
- ACT Fall test dates - September 9 and October 28
- SAT Fall test dates - August 26, October 7, and November 4
- Fall practices officially begin: August 14
- State cross country - October 28

It's not exactly cross country, but it's close: The National High School Trail Running Championships are slated for Salida this summer on July 29. More info here.
