Sammy Watson Is Headed Back To Brooks PR For a Big-Time Race In The 800

The Brooks PR Invitational just keeps getting better and better.

Rush Henrietta (NY) High graduate and Texas A & M University signee Sammy Watson, the defending Brooks PR girls 800m champion, is headed back to Seattle to race in the 800m.

Watson, who owns a US No. 1 time of 2:00.78, will face off against arguably her best national competition in Patriot (Va.) High senior and US No. 3 Rachel McArthur. The Villanova signee has run 2:05.42 and split 2:03 in a state regional relay.

With the right pace, could we see Watson record a sub-2 minute in the 800m? If so, she could challenge Mary Cain's national record of 1:59.51 recorded back in 2013.

If that's the case, McArthur likely could also cruise to a stellar time as well -- and let's not forget, she could win, too.

Watson is part of an outdoor SMR national record team and has three indoor national records in the 600m, 800m and 1000m. Could she add another?
