Using MileSplit's Photo Uploader

Everything you ever wanted to know about MileSplit site functionality!

There is no need to be intimidated by the photo uploading process any longer!

You have a great set of meet photos and want to share them. Now what do you do?

Note: This article, and all other articles assume a couple of things. They assume that you have established a username (registered) on the system and that you are logged in. If you haven't done that yet, go ahead and do it now. In addition, some of the functionalities assume that you are a MileSplit Insider. If you are not an Insider already, you can become one here.

Here is a quick set of steps to uploading your meet photos to Colorado Track XC, or any MileSplit site.

1. Do a batch resize of your photos to 960 pixels wide. In your batch process, you may also include steps like adjusting contrast, but make sure to resize the width to 960 pixels, which is the width that photos show in MileSplit albums.

2. Click on the meet to go to the meet page, and then click on Add Your Photos. The photo uploader dialog box you see above will be the page you come to.

3. Rename the album title from the default setting if you wish, but keep it descriptive of what you are posting.

4. Select a photo to use as your cover image and click on Create Album. The image you select as a cover must be a resized image. Original, full-sized files are too large to upload here.

The next page you come to should look like this:

If you are using Chrome as your browser you will see two buttons as shown above, one to Select Folder and one to Select Files. If you are using any other browser, you will see only the Select Files button. The difference here is that if you have several photos and want to divide you meet album into subalbums by event (a very good idea), you first want to put all of your resized photos into folders by event name. If you are using a browser other than Chrome, you only have the option to select files and add them to your album without subalbums.

Assuming you are using Chrome, you simply select the parent directory where all your folders of event photos reside from the directory tree that appears in a dialog box when you click on Select Folder. Click on OK in your dialog box, and screen populates with all of your selected photos.

Click on the Upload button and your upload session begins. Note that you can pause, and later resume, your uploading session if necessary.
