Austin Anaya: Moriarty to Adams State University

This fall, Austin Anaya joins several other New Mexico high school graduates who have joined the long green line at Adams State University. Contributed photo.

Name: Austin Anaya

High School: Moriarty High School

Signing With: Adams State University

What clinched the decision for the school you signed with: Ever since I attended the cross country camp at Adams State the summer after my freshman year I knew that this is where I wanted to go after high school to run. I love the team environment and the great coaching that Adams has to offer. The school is small and has proven to provide some of the best distance runners in the nation, which are both appealing to me. Therefore Adams State seemed to be the perfect decision for me.

Your favorite high school track event: 800M

Your favorite high school athletic memory: My favorite athletic memory is when Cody Striker, Justin Manning, Ryan Herrera and I won State in the Medley Relay in 2012.

Note: If you are a senior this spring and have signed with a college or university to compete in track and/or cross country for them, you can be part of this series as well. Simply send along a photo (needs to work in horizontal format--may be either a signing photo or a meet action photo of your choosing) and fill out the answers to the same questions Austin Anaya did above. We'll get your photo and answers up for the rest of the state to enjoy.
